Ways the Broncos together with their 'play-dough' QB could halt that Kansas City Chiefs' rule.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard on select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the football calendar and after recent talk about two top teams as possible championship contenders, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games were the amount of penalties both committed. The Eagles did so at crucial times so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this Sunday.

But it was good to observe that Denver's QB the rookie managed to have that deficit and then direct three scoring drives on three possessions during the final period, to win the victory by four points.

Denver have the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that battle.

They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't always sending more than four defenders but they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.

At the start in the campaign, we said during a show how the Broncos could be the current year's dark horses. They ended the previous year strongly and did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly and recent RB their rusher is a guy they believe in. He now ranks fifth league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love how head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

This demonstrates that the Broncos are a squad aiming to run first, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in favourable down and distances.

It's also helped QB the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – just behind Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw all over, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He has exceptional arm talent, which is different, and he is highly agile.

His strengths include his mobility, being able to pass on the run, as well as using different arm angles to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to throw precision throws across the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of composure under pressure and is not bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you consistently run the ball it consumes time and forces the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense must cover the field downfield side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for the coach to have a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can truly develop him how he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for the coach.

Payton has won a Super Bowl and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. I think the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB aids make him what he is.

There's no better a better guy guiding you, to assist you during difficult moments and build self-belief.

I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team good enough to face an elite team at full strength? Because that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to be in the AFC West. All they need to do is maintain this path.

They excel at leaning into their strength, that is running the ball, and this is exactly what they must do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team yet to win any game.

Since the NFL began tracking takeaways in 1933, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to go without a single takeaway in five outings, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

After this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 and the Broncos are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge at leading the West.

It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they face because the Broncos {beat|def
