People have assembled throughout the country to commemorate 24 months since the Hamas-led attack on October 7th, 2023, as discussions advanced in Egypt over a resolution to the war in the Gaza Strip.

The incident resulted in in excess of 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others captured away to Gaza as captives. It was the uniquely most fatal day for Jewish people since the World War II.

Israel reacted by initiating a defensive operation in Gaza which has claimed more than 67,000 people, based on figures from the territory's Hamas-controlled health ministry. Its statistics are considered trustworthy by the UN and other world agencies.

"The aggressive enemies have hit us hard, but they have not defeated us," the leader added on that day.

He also vowed to "accomplish all the objectives of the war: the homecoming of all the kidnapped, the elimination of the Hamas administration and the assurance that Gaza will not pose a risk to Israel".

Memorial Events Across Israel

The government authorities postponed state commemorations until mid-October - after the completion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but events still took place across the country on Tuesday.

A commemorative event for the relatives of people killed in the Hamas assault was held in Tel Aviv. Organized by the families themselves, it was aired across Israeli TV networks.

Hours earlier, a minute's silence was observed across the country.

Ceasefire Discussions in Egypt

At the same time, Israeli and Hamas negotiating teams gathered in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of the Egyptian city for a follow-up session of third-party negotiations to discuss the conditions of the proposal.

A high-ranking Palestinian official knowledgeable about the discussions indicated that an late session of mediated discussions began at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official stated the day's discussions finished without concrete outcomes, due to differences over the proposed Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over assurances Hamas wants to ensure Israel does not restart fighting after the initial stage of the agreement.

He commented that the talks are "difficult and have yet to produce any significant progress," but noted that mediators are making efforts to close the differences between the two sides.

Essential Matters in Talks

  • A lasting truce
  • The exchange of the captives still held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The removal of military personnel from Gaza
  • Arrangements for assistance distribution
  • After-conflict management of the territory

Citizen Feeling

In Tel Aviv's public square previously, young a woman - whose family member survived the incident on the Nova music festival, where many attendees were killed and numerous more were abducted by Hamas fighters - told: "No place appears as home now and until each abducted person are released none of us will feel safe."

"When we see everybody home again, we can breathe once more. Then we can start to heal," she concluded.

Near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official dwelling in the capital, people gathered to show their solidarity for the families of the hostages. Israel says nearly fifty continue in confinement in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are thought to be alive.

Activist one woman remarked: "We must do every compromise required for the captives to return. But we truly desire assurances that we will be safe."

Opinion polls now frequently demonstrate that around 70% of Israelis desire the hostilities to end in return for the liberation of the abducted.

Gaza Situation

At the location of the music event, grieving people gathered to remember the victims.

From that location, the boom of military attacks and shelling could be heard just a brief space away in Gaza, where observers reported the severe Israeli bombardment persisted.

In the urban center, attacks were documented in the early hours of Tuesday in the west side neighborhood, area and zone districts and in the eastern area of Sheikh Radwan, as well Shati refugee camp to the north-west.

"When the night comes, the dread arrives with it," relocated Gaza City resident a mother, whose teenage son was died by an Israeli air strike earlier, shared.

"Me and my three children are fearful of the bombings. All the night we are sleeping together, holding each other, notably my smallest child who puts his face on me the entire evening."

"Constantly we monitor the updates to see the situation. And I'm afraid that this truce will not be finalized and that the fighting will return to us."

Health Situation

The healthcare center in Gaza City said it had received the remains of six people by the afternoon, including several who died in an Israeli bombing in the southern area.

Nasser hospital in the southern urban center of that area indicated two more victims had been transported. A person was died by Israeli forces while attempting to get aid to the south region, medical staff stated.

The region's health ministry reported twenty-five of the {territ
