Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his position after a further convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to expand on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

Slot highlighted recurring failings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with outcomes like these.”

He stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, prove again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
